The Marvel Cinematic Crossover Exchange is an exchange dedicated to fusions and crossovers between the MCU and other fandoms.
It’s June 1 somewhere, which means that nominations for the Marvel Cinematic Crossover Exchange are open! You can submit nominations for non-MCU fandoms you want to read or write crossovers or fusions about at the nominations page.
Submitting a nomination is non-binding: you don’t have to participate to submit a nomination, so if you’re not sure if you’ll be able to participate, feel free to nominate fandoms anyway. Check out the Ao3 collection page or Tumblr for more details.

Date: 2018-05-31 07:27 pm (UTC)How will matching work? While the exchange is called 'Crossover', this post says that the exchange will be open to "fusions and crossovers". Will we be allowed to specify which type we're interested in? For example, the crossovering exchange uses the freeform field to let you select crossovers, fusions, or either in each request and offer. I hope this is how this exchange will work! There are a lot of people who are only interested in crossovers, or who might only be interested in fusions for one fandom and crossovers for another.

Date: 2018-05-31 11:01 pm (UTC)I've written a definition of crossovers and fusions that goes like this:
---
For the purposes of this exchange, if you would tag a work as ___ AU, it's a fusion. Otherwise, it's a crossover.
In other words, the difference between a crossover and a fusion is the difference between a fic set in a coffee shop and a fic set in a coffee shop AU. In the hypothetical Coffee Shop Fusion, the roles of the characters change to fit the setting. In the Coffee Shop Crossover, the characters are the same... but they're in a coffee shop.

Date: 2018-06-05 01:00 am (UTC)I've read the posts on dreamwidth but I'm still unsure about how this works. The MCU is huge, if I want Cap characters, or Agents of SHIELD characters crossed over with for example Star Trek, how can I make sure that I won't get assigned or gifted Guardians of the Galaxy or Iron Man/Star Trek instead?
The inability to nominate characters also get me nervous: there are some MCU movies I haven't watched, and for the ones I did watch I have a few NOTPs and NOTCs, and I'm pretty sure that this is true for the most of the participants.
I'd feel better knowing that there's a way for us to request/offer our favourites, and that you'll match us to participants with tastes compatible with ours.
Also, this is not related, but the community is currently set to disallow anonymous comments, that means only DW users can comment. Is it possible to open it to allow anon comments too?

Date: 2018-06-05 11:44 pm (UTC)Thank you for commenting. This exchange will be hand-matched. The reason that movie-and-show specific characters can't be nominated is that because the MCU is so huge, matching is difficult even considering specific properties. Therefore, people will only be matched on the secondary fandom they requested. You'll only be able to tag your request and offer based on that.
The way you can request/offer your favourites is to mention them in request and offer notes. If you have any NOTPs or NOTCs, this is also the place to say so. Also, if you haven't seen any movies, this is the place to say which ones you've seen and which you haven't.
There's always an element of trusting your author in exchanges, and in this case, if you clearly state your likes and dislikes then the creator you're matched to should pay attention to them. And if you've got any really strong dislikes, DNWs are the place to put them.
Basically, the idea is - if you want to write for, say, Jason Bourne Trilogy (Movies), you could write in your notes that you're particularly interested in writing, say, a Captain America crossover, but you don't want to write Stony and you haven't seen Captain America: Civil War. I could then match you to a person whose likes and dislikes in their request aligned with yours.
Thank you for pointing the comment issue out. I've changed the settings :)
